Dubai is accelerating its shift towards sustainable mobility as Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Parkin Company signed a strategic agreement to expand the emirate’s public electric vehicle (EV) charging network.

The collaboration aims to enhance customer experience and strengthen Dubai’s position as a global leader in green transport.

The first phase of the project will install 100 EV chargers at key locations across Dubai, including residential communities, shopping malls, leisure destinations, and public areas. A wider rollout will follow, ensuring broader coverage and greater flexibility for EV users.

The agreement was signed at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) in the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA’s MD & CEO, and Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, Parkin’s Board Chairman. Majid Al Hazami, DEWA Director of Smart Grid PMO, and Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, Parkin CEO, formalized the contract, attended by senior officials from both organisations.

Al Tayer highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, aimed at promoting sustainable transport, reducing carbon emissions, and improving air quality. DEWA currently operates over 1,500 public charging points, with more than 19,000 registered users of its EV Green Charger network as of August 2025.

Bahrozyan emphasised the milestone’s significance in demonstrating public-private collaboration to create long-term value for the community and environment. Al Ali added that the project reflects Parkin’s shift from traditional parking management to holistic urban space management, integrating EV charging into residents’ daily routines.

Parkin will manage service delivery via its smart app, while DEWA will oversee the operation and performance of the chargers. The initiative promises seamless service, technical support, and a structured framework to enhance the overall customer experience.
