Dubai Finance (DOF) has successfully completed its first pilot transaction enabling government service fees to be paid using digital assets, marking a major step toward integrating cryptocurrencies into Dubai’s payment ecosystem.

The transaction, carried out through the DubaiPay platform managed by the Digital Dubai Authority (DDA), was conducted in collaboration with the Dubai Land Department (DLD) and a digital asset platform licensed by the Central Bank of the UAE. The initial implementation involved the issuance of a Property Map service, serving as a test of system readiness and security before a full-scale rollout.

Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director-General of DOF, said the initiative reflects Dubai’s commitment to adopting advanced financial technologies and strengthening its position as a global hub for digital innovation. He noted that the project aligns with the emirate’s efforts to build a fully integrated digital economy guided by security and compliance.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-General of DDA, described the initiative as a milestone in Dubai’s digital transformation and part of its broader “City-as-a-Service” vision, which integrates modern financial technologies with government services in a seamless, secure framework.

Officials from the DLD and Emirates NBD confirmed that the transaction was executed in a secure, closed environment, with the value settled in UAE dirhams through compliant, integrated systems. The pilot supports the Dubai Cashless Strategy, which aims to digitise 90% of financial transactions by 2026, advancing the emirate’s transition toward a sustainable and innovation-driven economy.
