H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence of the UAE, has issued Executive Council Resolution No. (13) of 2025, establishing the Data and Statistics Committee in the Emirate of Dubai.
The committee, chaired by the Director General of the Digital Dubai Authority, aims to enhance data governance, integration, and strategic decision-making to support Dubai’s digital transformation. Younus Abdulaziz Al Nasser has been appointed Vice Chairman, with key members from various government and security entities.
Key Objectives and Responsibilities
The Data and Statistics Committee will play a pivotal role in shaping Dubai’s digital economy by:
- Enhancing data exchange and governance across government entities.
- Leveraging AI and advanced technologies to improve government efficiency and services.
- Developing a unified data strategy aligned with Dubai’s long-term digital transformation plans.
- Overseeing compliance with Dubai’s Data Maturity Framework and ensuring adherence to established data and statistics standards.
- Facilitating AI-driven insights by identifying essential datasets to enhance predictive services.
- Standardizing methodologies for calculating statistical values and metrics across government departments.
Strengthening Government Collaboration
The Resolution mandates all government entities to cooperate with the committee, ensuring timely access to critical data and reports. Dubai Data and Statistics will provide administrative and technical support to enable the committee’s smooth functioning.
Additionally, the Chairman of the Data and Statistics Committee is authorized to issue decisions enforcing the provisions of this Resolution. This new framework replaces Executive Council Decision No. (2) of 2008 and becomes effective from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
This initiative marks another milestone in Dubai’s journey towards becoming a global leader in data-driven governance and digital innovation.
