Dubai Future District Fund (DFDF) added eight new investment commitments in 2025, growing its total portfolio to 30 investments spanning 11 venture capital funds and 19 high-growth startups, according to its newly released Annual Report.
The fund directed the bulk of its fresh capital toward PropTech and artificial intelligence, two sectors it considers central to Dubai's future economy. The new commitments included five investments in venture capital funds and three direct investments in startups. DFDF also deepened its PropTech focus by backing two specialised companies alongside two sector-focused venture funds.
Beyond capital deployment, DFDF expanded its role as an ecosystem builder throughout the year. The fund formed partnerships with international organisations, held investment roadshows in major global innovation hubs, and rolled out initiatives designed to support startup growth and entrepreneurial talent.
Khalfan Belhoul, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Future Foundation and Chairman of DFDF, said Dubai's innovation ecosystem continues to grow through a mix of forward-looking policy, strong infrastructure and its ability to draw top global talent and investors. He added that DFDF channels these advantages into long-term partnerships aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).
Nader Albastaki, Managing Director of DFDF, said the fund sharpened its sector focus while making its eight new commitments this year. He noted that 2026 priorities include diversifying the portfolio further, deepening global partnerships and supporting founders building globally competitive companies.
Looking ahead, DFDF plans to launch a programme backing first and second-time fund managers to strengthen the region's venture capital ecosystem. The fund will also expand collaboration with local and international partners, reinforcing the Dubai International Financial Centre's role as a gateway for capital into Dubai's future economy sectors, including HealthTech, LogisticsTech, DeepTech and Web3.
