Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has announced funding for 24 groundbreaking research projects from 13 universities, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovation and future technologies.
The initiative, part of DFF’s Dubai Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Grant, was launched in September 2024 under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
Selected from 374 proposals across 41 institutions, the funded projects focus on cognitive cities, health sciences, AI, and robotics. Khalifa Al Qama, Executive Director of Dubai Future Labs, highlighted Dubai’s commitment to fostering scientific advancements, stating:
“The strong response to the RDI Grant underscores Dubai’s role in pioneering cutting-edge research that will shape the future.”
Researchers from institutions including University of Dubai, Canadian University Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, and Middlesex University Dubai are leading transformative projects. Among them, Dr. Hamzah Alkhazaleh from the University of Dubai is spearheading an AI-powered Alzheimer’s detection project, while Prof. Mai ElBarachi from the University of Wollongong in Dubai is leading ChatEV, an AI-driven initiative to enhance electric vehicle ecosystems.
The RDI initiative aligns with Dubai’s vision to be a hub for scientific excellence, supporting research that advances healthcare, sustainability, and technology.
