In a move to spotlight innovative solutions for future generations, the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has unveiled a special edition of its flagship report, "The Global 50 Special Edition: Youth and Future Generations."

This report coincides with the United Nations Summit of the Future in New York, where global leaders converge to tackle present and future challenges.

The special edition of the Future Opportunities Report: The Global 50 examines ways to support young people and upcoming generations through groundbreaking initiatives. Unlike its traditional format, which identifies 50 growth opportunities across sectors such as energy and education, this special edition aligns its focus with the UN’s draft Pact for the Future and the Global Digital Compact.

Key highlights include contributions from notable experts. Dr. Ameena Al-Sumaiti of Khalifa University explores how AI-powered smart homes could revolutionize urban living. Lambert Hogenhout of the UN Secretariat contemplates the potential of Public AI as a public good. Dr. Farah Al Marzooq of UAE University discusses rapid infection detection with "Petri Dish on the Go," while Dr. Eddy Ng of Queen’s University considers the idea of "Flipping the Career Ladder," where career exploration and continuous work reshape traditional retirement.

The report underscores the urgent need for innovative strategies to address shifting demographic trends, noting that the global youth population, currently 16% of the total, is expected to shrink to 11.5% by 2100. This demographic shift highlights the necessity for forward-thinking approaches to meet the evolving needs of the next generations.

Through this special edition, DFF aims to inspire action and foster solutions that will help shape a more prosperous, healthy, and sustainable future for youth worldwide.
