Dubai Future Labs Showcases Cutting-Edge Robotics at IROS 2024
Dubai Future Labs (DFL), a leading research and development lab established by the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), is participating in the 36th edition of the International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS), held in Abu Dhabi until 18th October.
This marks the third consecutive year of DFL’s involvement in the prestigious event, which is being hosted in the Middle East and North Africa for the first time.
DFL is showcasing its latest innovations, including a fleet of unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) developed by its in-house researchers. Among the featured projects is an outdoor autonomous delivery robot designed for last-mile logistics, offering unmatched mobility on sidewalks. Additionally, DFL is presenting a warehouse automation robot driven by advanced AI manipulation, as well as a specialised robot for autonomous search and rescue missions in emergency situations.
As part of its educational mandate, DFL will also host a workshop focusing on mobile manipulation solutions for efficient robot deployment across diverse environments. This aims to address the challenges of adaptable robot operations in settings ranging from factories to homes.
Khalifa Al Qama, Director of Dubai Future Labs, highlighted the significance of IROS as a platform for fostering international partnerships and showcasing Dubai’s commitment to becoming a global R&D hub. He added that DFL’s participation aligns with the goals of the Dubai Robotics and Automation Programme, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
DFL first participated in IROS in 2022 in Kyoto, Japan, and again in 2023 in Detroit, USA, gaining recognition for its innovative contributions to the field of robotics.
