Dubai is set to host its largest-ever Beat Diabetes Walk, as the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) and Landmark Group prepare for an unprecedented edition of the annual health-focused event.
In a key meeting, H.E. Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of DSC, welcomed a Landmark Group delegation led by Ms. Nisha Jagtiani, the Group’s Director, to discuss final preparations. Also in attendance was H.E. Naser Aman Al-Rahma, Assistant Secretary General of DSC. The discussion reinforced the long-standing collaboration between DSC and Landmark Group in promoting community wellness, with this year’s event aligning with the Year of the Community initiative.
Having drawn over 165,000 participants across 14 editions, the 12-hour walkathon is expected to surpass previous records, attracting individuals from diverse nationalities and backgrounds. H.E. Saeed Hareb reaffirmed DSC’s commitment to community-driven health initiatives, emphasizing the event’s role in promoting active lifestyles and diabetes prevention.
“We organize hundreds of community initiatives annually across Dubai, and the Beat Diabetes Walk remains a flagship event since its inception in 2009. Our goal is to promote a healthy lifestyle, reduce diseases, and enhance overall well-being,”
he stated.
Ms. Nisha Jagtiani highlighted the Beat Diabetes Initiative’s impact since its launch in 2009, citing 14 successful walkathons, 700,000 free blood sugar tests, outreach to 30,000 children, and over 100 partnerships with public and private sectors. She underscored the initiative’s critical role in diabetes awareness, prevention, and management.
The meeting concluded with a tour of DSC headquarters, where Landmark Group representatives explored DSC’s Sports Events Guide and core operations. Commemorative gifts were exchanged, symbolizing the shared dedication to fostering a healthier society.
With anticipation building, this year’s Beat Diabetes Walk promises to be a milestone event, reinforcing the power of collaboration in the fight against diabetes.
