Dubai Health welcomed a delegation from The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust to advance knowledge exchange and explore innovations in cancer care.
The visit reinforced collaboration to enhance clinical and operational excellence at Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, Dubai’s first comprehensive cancer facility.
The Royal Marsden delegation, led by Dame Cally Palmer, Chief Executive and National Cancer Director of NHS England, included Professor Nicholas van As, Chief Medical Officer, and Dr. Angela George, Clinical Director of Genomics. They met with Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chair of the hospital’s Steering Committee, to discuss integrating medical innovations and global best practices into Dubai’s healthcare system.
Dr. Al Gurg highlighted the importance of international partnerships, emphasizing that philanthropic support through Al Jalila Foundation is instrumental in establishing Dubai as a leading destination for specialised healthcare. Dame Cally Palmer expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that the partnership aims to create a model of excellence in cancer care.
The delegation toured key healthcare facilities, including Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, Al Jalila Foundation, Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, Dubai Health Operations Centre, and Majlis Al Amal, a centre for female cancer patients. They also visited Emirates Airline facilities, gaining insights into Dubai’s commitment to service excellence.
Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, underscored the visit’s role in strengthening internationally recognised treatment pathways, ensuring high-quality, patient-centred cancer care.
The visit reaffirms Dubai Health’s commitment to global collaboration in healthcare, supporting its mission to deliver world-class cancer care at Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital and uphold the core value of ‘Patient First.’
