Dubai Health’s Board of Directors, chaired by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, held its first meeting of the second term, approving the establishment of a state-of-the-art Diabetes Centre in Dubai, set to open in 2026.
The centre aims to provide diabetes care in alignment with the highest global standards, reflecting Dubai Health's commitment to the Dubai Social Agenda 33 for promoting a healthier lifestyle and enhancing preventive healthcare services.
The meeting at Dubai Health's headquarters also saw the attendance of H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Board, and board members including prominent figures from Dubai’s medical and educational sectors. The new 53,000-square-foot Diabetes Centre will double the capacity of the current facility, which has served over 15,000 patients since its founding in 2009. Dr. Raja Easa Al Gurg, Chair of the Steering Committee for the centre, emphasized the centre's patient-centric design, medical innovation, and advanced technology integration to enhance specialised diabetes care.
The centre will offer comprehensive services, including specialties in cardiology, nephrology, and ophthalmology, catering to the diverse needs of patients. Dr. Mohamed Farooqi, Director of the Diabetes Centre, highlighted plans to incorporate artificial intelligence and other modern technologies for a seamless patient experience, alongside a focus on pediatric endocrinology.
With its strategic location and enhanced capacity, the new centre is expected to play a pivotal role in Dubai Health’s vision of positioning Dubai as a global healthcare leader.
