Dubai Health Hosts Inaugural Dubai Health Research Conference 2024

Dubai Health successfully hosted the inaugural Dubai Health Research Conference 2024, drawing around 700 physicians, scientists, trainees, and healthcare professionals to the Mohammed bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) over three days.

The event aimed to advance evidence-based research, foster discovery, and elevate healthcare standards in the region.

Professor Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Deputy CEO and Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health, and Provost of MBRU, highlighted the conference’s significance, stating,

“The Dubai Health Research Conference reflects Dubai Health's commitment to fostering a culture of discovery and preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals.”

The conference featured prominent speakers addressing global healthcare trends. Among them, Dr. Agni Orfanoudaki from the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School spoke on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into patient management, while Dr. Patricia Maes from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab explored the transformative role of AI and wearable technologies in health and wellbeing.

Dr. Hamda Hassan Khansaheb, Director of Research Administration and Support at MBRU, emphasized the event’s impact on driving discovery-driven research and collaboration.

“The conference showcased the importance of research excellence and knowledge exchange, aligning with Dubai Health’s mission to advance healthcare for the benefit of patients and the community,”

she said.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony honoring 12 Dubai Health team members for their research contributions and recognizing MBRU faculty featured in Stanford University’s 2024 list of the World’s Top 2% of Scientists.

The conference’s success reaffirms Dubai Health’s commitment to developing research capabilities and supporting the Dubai Social Agenda 33.
