Dubai Health Launches Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Initiative
Dubai Health has officially adopted the Patient Safety Friendly Hospital Initiative (PSFHI), reinforcing its commitment to a comprehensive patient safety strategy aligned with World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines.
This initiative embodies Dubai Health's ‘Patient First’ promise, placing the voice of the patient at the forefront of its integrated healthcare system.
The PSFHI aims to enhance patient outcomes while fostering an environment of collaboration and continuous learning, ultimately delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. This initiative aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which seeks to establish a world-class healthcare system defined by the highest quality standards.
Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, emphasized the importance of cultivating a robust safety culture.
“Fostering a strong culture of safety allows Dubai Health to deliver exceptional outcomes and prioritize what matters most: the well-being of our patients,”
he stated. Dr. Sharif praised the dedication of healthcare professionals, saying their commitment inspires a safe and compassionate care environment.
Dr. Tarek Fathey, Chief Clinical Officer, highlighted that patient safety is a fundamental principle guiding every decision within the integrated academic health system.

he noted.
Central to the PSFHI is a commitment to continuous learning and innovation, with plans to engage world-renowned patient safety expert Professor Charles Vincent from the University of Oxford in December 2024.
Dr. Entesar Alhammadi, Chair of Patient Safety and Quality, reiterated Dubai Health's unwavering commitment to patient safety.
