In a landmark move to enhance equitable healthcare access, Dubai Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the five founding trustees of the UAE-India Friendship Hospital.
Four of these trustees are also founding members of the UAE India Business Council – UAE Chapter (UIBC-UC), underscoring a strong bilateral partnership rooted in shared values and purpose.
Announced during the official visit of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to India, the collaboration represents a strategic step toward improving healthcare services for Dubai’s blue-collar workforce—an essential demographic in the city’s development journey.
Endorsed at the highest levels of leadership in both countries, the UAE-India Friendship Hospital is a joint philanthropic initiative designed to deliver accessible, affordable, and quality medical care. The project is being driven by prominent Indian business leaders in the UAE: Faizal Kottikollon, Nilesh Ved, Siddharth Balachandran, Tariq Chauhan, and Ramesh S Ramakrishnan—well-regarded for their philanthropic impact.
Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33 and the emirate’s broader vision of building a future-ready, patient-centric health system.
“This collaboration reflects our leadership’s enduring commitment to community well-being,”
he noted.
The MoU sets the stage for a transformative healthcare model that champions inclusivity and compassion. As the trustees put it,
“This hospital will be a beacon of care for those who have been the backbone of Dubai’s growth.”
With unified support from Dubai Health, the Community Development Authority, Indian diplomatic missions, and the UIBC-UC, this initiative stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in uplifting communities and strengthening ties between the UAE and India.
