The fourth edition of the INTERPOL Young Global Police Leaders Programme (YGPLP) has officially commenced, focusing on "Policing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence."

The opening ceremony, held at the Dubai Police Officers' Club, featured Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Acting Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Jürgen Stock, INTERPOL Secretary General, alongside other senior Dubai Police officials.

The four-day event, hosted by Dubai Police in collaboration with INTERPOL, brings together young police leaders from 34 member countries. This year's theme emphasizes the role of artificial intelligence in modern policing, exploring how this technology can enhance operations, improve community safety, and address various forms of crime.

The programme began with a video presentation reflecting on past editions, including those held in Dubai and India, highlighting the growth and achievements of the initiative. Major General Al Mansoori underscored Dubai Police’s commitment to fostering international cooperation and developing future leaders through specialized training.

"This initiative aims to advance security and police work by sharing knowledge and best practices, and by leveraging AI to address future challenges,"

he stated.

INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock expressed his enthusiasm for the continued success of YGPLP, acknowledging the pivotal role of Dubai Police. He highlighted the growing importance of AI in law enforcement, citing recent advancements and collaborations that underscore its potential.

"AI is becoming a crucial tool in enhancing crime prevention and public safety,"

Stock noted.

Dr. Madan Oberoi, INTERPOL's Executive Director of Technology and Innovation, emphasized the programme's focus on international cooperation and knowledge exchange.

"The YGPLP offers young leaders a platform to engage with seasoned professionals and present innovative solutions to global policing challenges,"

Oberoi said.

The programme kicked off with a keynote lecture on future foresight skills in AI, followed by orientation sessions and brainstorming workshops. These sessions aim to equip participants with practical skills and insights to effectively use AI in their respective policing roles.

The YGPLP continues to be a significant platform for building a network of informed, skilled young leaders dedicated to advancing global security through innovation and collaboration.
