Dubai opened the 10th edition of the Knowledge Summit with a strong focus on advancing global conversations around innovation and sustainable development.
The event was inaugurated under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre until 20 November.
Organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, this year’s Summit carries the theme “Knowledge Markets: Developing Sustainable Communities.”
The event highlights Dubai’s growing role as a global hub for knowledge exchange, bringing together experts, academics, and decision-makers to explore solutions for the future. Organisers emphasised that investing in knowledge drives creativity, opportunity, and human development, while supporting youth empowerment and the adoption of advanced technologies.
The opening ceremony featured meetings with ministers and senior officials, underlining the importance of collaboration and dialogue in promoting sustainable progress.
The Summit also unveiled the Global Knowledge Index 2025 results. Switzerland ranked first globally, followed by Singapore and Sweden. The UAE led the Arab world, with Saudi Arabia second and Qatar third. The updated index now includes enhanced indicators across education, innovation, technology, economy, and governance to better assess countries’ readiness for knowledge-based development.
Day one included panel discussions and workshops addressing innovation, sustainability, technology, education, and knowledge governance. Sessions explored the role of partnerships and investments in building integrated knowledge ecosystems, highlighting how shared ideas and expertise drive comprehensive and sustainable societal advancement.
