Dubai opened the doors to the future as the Museum of the Future, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, launched Urban Future Week on 10–11 November.

The two-day event brought together global experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how innovation, technology, and governance are shaping resilient, sustainable cities.

Under the theme ‘Redefining the Future of Cities and Communities - Co-creating Our Future City’, Urban Future Week offered a platform for practical dialogue, specialised sessions, and interactive showcases. The event highlighted Dubai’s growing reputation as a global hub for smart urban planning and forward-looking city design.

Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, delivered the keynote, emphasising the UAE’s commitment to building a global model for urban sustainability. She highlighted the role of technology, human-centred planning, and green infrastructure in enhancing community wellbeing and addressing climate challenges.

His Excellency Eng. Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, said the event strengthens government integration and promotes smart city governance. He stressed that Dubai’s vision focuses on creating predictive, people-focused urban experiences that improve quality of life while fostering innovation and sustainability.

Khalfan Juma Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation, described Dubai as a living laboratory for developing human-centred, resilient urban models. He noted that collaboration and foresight are essential to designing practical solutions for the cities of tomorrow.

Day one focused on urban systems, governance, and innovation, exploring decision intelligence, anticipatory planning, and smart infrastructure integration. Day two, themed ‘Digital Cities and the Future of Communities’, highlights digital systems and public-private partnerships in creating inclusive, connected, and adaptive urban environments.

Urban Future Week serves as a global meeting point to drive city innovation, launch new initiatives in sustainable urban planning, and generate actionable recommendations to support Dubai’s vision as a leading platform for future-ready cities.
