Dubai, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the World Free Zones Organisation (World FZO) World Congress.
The event, attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, marks the 10th anniversary of the World FZO and introduces its new corporate identity.
Held at Madinat Jumeirah, the congress is the largest since the organisation's inception. The event was attended by over 2,000 global and regional business leaders, ministers, and representatives from 136 countries. Distinguished guests included H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica.
During his speech, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed highlighted Dubai's pioneering free zone model as a significant driver of economic growth, aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. He emphasized Dubai’s role as a global investment hub supported by advanced technology and future-focused industries.
Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, noted the critical role of free zones in enhancing the UAE's economic competitiveness, connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. He stressed their importance in advancing national efforts toward economic diversification and fostering innovation.
The congress is being held under the theme, “Zones and the Shifting Global Economic Structures – Unlocking New Investment Avenues,” reinforcing the UAE's commitment to positioning itself as a global economic leader.
