Dubai is set to make sporting history as it prepares to host the world’s first World Triathlon Women’s Cup on 7 December 2025, bringing a global spotlight to the emirate’s growing commitment to women’s sports.
The event will take place at Dubai Islands and is being organised by the Dubai Sports Council in cooperation with the UAE Triathlon Federation and under the supervision of World Triathlon. Officials describe the competition as a milestone moment, marking the formal activation of the Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Campaign.
The race forms part of the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, an initiative designed to elevate the emirate’s sports ecosystem. The plan aims to empower clubs, nurture talent, expand community participation and strengthen Dubai’s position as a leading international sports hub. It includes 19 programmes and 75 initiatives that are set to contribute AED 18.3 billion to the emirate’s GDP by 2033.
DP World has been confirmed as the official partner for the inaugural event, aligning with Dubai’s push to increase women’s participation in competitive sport. Dubai Holding will host the competition, while Dubai Sports Channel will serve as the official broadcaster.
Organisers say preparations are in full swing, with ongoing coordination between World Triathlon, the UAE Triathlon Federation, Dubai Police, the Roads and Transport Authority and other stakeholders to ensure a safe and professionally managed event.
Athletes will compete across five categories that cover swimming, cycling and running. Distances range from elite professional races to amateur sprint and beginner super sprint formats, offering opportunities for participants at multiple levels.
The landmark event is expected to draw competitors from around the world and reinforce Dubai’s standing as a global destination for major sporting competitions.
