Dubai Humanitarian (formerly known as the International Humanitarian City) today held a symposium on Sustainable Supply Chain Management in Humanitarian Operations at its Centre of Knowledge and Development.
More than 60 participants came from various entities, mainly United Nations Agencies, international non-profit organisations, commercial companies, and government entities.

Khaled Khalifa, UNHCR’s Senior Advisor and Representative to the GCC countries, stressed the importance of preparedness, sustainable funding, and supply chain management for effective emergency response. He lauded Dubai Humanitarian for its agility in supporting relief efforts. The second session explored sustainable procurement practices with insights from UNHCR, WFP, and IFRC professionals.
Moderated by Bouran Suleiman, the discussion highlighted the impact, challenges, and opportunities of sustainable practices, with input from commercial companies and manufacturers. The symposium concluded with a panel underscoring the collective responsibility of stakeholders in prioritizing sustainability while saving lives, in anticipation of a forthcoming event on innovation for humanitarian action.
As the global challenges of climate change and resource scarcity intensify, integrating sustainable practices into humanitarian operations becomes increasingly urgent. Dubai Humanitarian and its partners reaffirm its commitment to leading by example and driving dialogue and meaningful change to pursue a more sustainable and resilient future for all.
