Dubai Humanitarian has reinforced its role as a global leader in humanitarian logistics by hosting an Advanced Masterclass on Importation and Customs for Humanitarian Response at its Knowledge and Development Centre.
The three-day program, organized under the IMPACCT Working Group in collaboration with Dubai Customs, HELP Logistics, UNCTAD, and DP-DHL, brought together over 25 professionals from 12 major humanitarian organizations across 13 countries. The sessions aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of importation processes, compliance, and the legal and operational aspects of cross-border humanitarian aid.
Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, said the initiative reflects the organization’s long-standing commitment to improving global aid delivery. He highlighted that partnerships with customs authorities and logistics experts are key to enabling faster, more efficient humanitarian assistance, especially during emergencies.
Virginie Bohl, Coordinator of the IMPACCT Group, emphasized the complexity of importation and customs procedures in humanitarian logistics, noting that the training helps bridge collaboration between aid agencies and customs authorities to improve response speed and effectiveness.
Participants also engaged in case studies, scenario analyses, and a field visit to Dubai Customs, gaining first-hand insight into the UAE’s collaborative approach to streamlining aid movement. The masterclass further explored the role of digital tools like the Humanitarian Logistics Databank and ASYREC in promoting transparency and efficiency across global supply chains.
The program marks another milestone in Dubai Humanitarian’s mission to strengthen global aid networks, build professional capacity, and enhance the speed and impact of humanitarian operations worldwide.
