In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department (DGHR) has announced a new flexible working hours and remote work policy for government employees during Ramadan 2025.

Introduced as part of the "Year of Community" initiative, this policy reflects Dubai’s commitment to fostering a work environment that balances efficiency with community well-being.

Key Features of the New Policy

  • Flexible working hours: Employees are required to complete 5.5 hours from Monday to Thursday and three hours on Friday.
  • Remote work option: Eligible employees may work remotely up to two days a week, subject to their job responsibilities and work conditions.
  • Operational continuity: Employees must coordinate with their direct managers to ensure seamless operations and uninterrupted public service.

This initiative aims to enhance employee comfort and well-being during Ramadan, ensuring that productivity remains consistent while accommodating the spiritual and personal needs of government employees.

Encouraging Private Sector Participation

The Dubai Government also encourages private sector companies to consider similar flexible arrangements, customized to their operational needs. This initiative aims to promote business continuity while supporting employee well-being during Ramadan.

Setting a Benchmark for Workplace Flexibility

By implementing this policy, Dubai continues to lead in workplace innovation, fostering a supportive and productive environment for its public sector workforce. This move sets a benchmark for businesses across the emirate, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leader in employee welfare and progressive work policies.
