Dubai has opened a new branch of the Thukher Club in Al Khawaneej, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for senior citizens and strengthening their role as active contributors to society.
Launched under the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the initiative is overseen by the Community Development Authority, which leads the development and operation of the club. The expansion reflects a broader vision to place people at the centre of Dubai’s development while recognising the value of senior citizens’ experience and knowledge.
The Thukher Club provides an integrated environment designed to encourage community engagement and intergenerational exchange. It offers a range of cultural, social, health, and sports programmes aimed at supporting active and healthy lifestyles, while enabling seniors to continue contributing to society.
Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of the Community Development Authority, said the initiative aligns with leadership directives to empower senior citizens as key partners in development. She highlighted the importance of investing in seniors to strengthen social cohesion, reinforce values, and support sustainable growth.
The new branch also supports the goals of the Dubai Social Agenda 33, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which focuses on building cohesive families and empowered generations.
Developed in collaboration with entities including Dubai Police, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Municipality, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, and Dubai Sports Council, the facility features dedicated spaces for activities, workshops, and social interaction.
The opening marks another step in Dubai’s efforts to build an inclusive society that values the contributions of all generations.
