Dubai Installs Over 200 Smart Mosquito Traps to Enhance Public Health

Dubai has introduced a cutting-edge solution to tackle mosquito and insect populations, with the installation of 237 smart traps across the city.

The Dubai Municipality announced this initiative on Friday, highlighting its commitment to improving public health and safety.

These smart traps are eco-friendly and solar-powered, offering round-the-clock monitoring of insect populations. The traps help track the distribution of insects, enabling authorities to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding hotspots. This move is part of Dubai's ongoing efforts to create a sustainable environment for its residents.

This isn't the first time Dubai has taken action against pests. Residents can also apply for free pest control services through the Dubai Municipality, with services tailored to both citizens and expatriates. The primary aim is to protect homes and communities from potential infestations.

The initiative follows a nationwide effort to control mosquito populations, especially after record-breaking rains last year. The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) launched a campaign to eliminate breeding sites and reduce infestations across the UAE. The public has been encouraged to contribute by reporting mosquito breeding grounds, such as stagnant water in gardens, parks, and pools, by calling MoCCAE at 800-3050.

With these combined efforts, Dubai is not only combating pest issues but also enhancing its sustainability initiatives for a healthier and safer future.
