Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been awarded the Level 4 “Transformation” accreditation by the Airports Council International (ACI) Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) program, placing it among the top 5% of global airports recognized for carbon emissions reduction as of September 2024. This accolade highlights DXB’s successful implementation of emissions-reducing strategies and collaborations across the aviation sector.

Aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goal, Dubai Airports has prioritized decarbonization, resource efficiency, and advanced technology adoption to minimize its environmental impact. Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, stated,

“Achieving Level 4 'Transformation' accreditation underscores our commitment to embedding sustainability at Dubai Airports’ core. This recognition reflects not only our carbon reduction progress but also our dedication to fostering systemic change in aviation."

Stefano Baronci, Director-General of ACI Asia-Pacific & Middle East, praised DXB’s achievements, emphasizing its role as a model for sustainable practices in the region. DXB has recently advanced green initiatives, including a collaboration with dnata and Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) to adopt biodiesel blends in non-electric airside vehicles, reducing emissions by 3,500 tonnes annually.

DXB’s environmental efforts also extend to partnerships with Etihad Energy Services for energy-efficient retrofits and with BEEAH Group for landfill reduction, achieving a 60% reduction in food waste. Additionally, the “Follow the Greens” system optimizes aircraft taxiing to lower fuel consumption, supporting Dubai Airports' broader goals.

With the formation of the oneDXB Sustainability Alliance, DXB and its partners continue to explore over 180 potential decarbonization projects, solidifying Dubai International’s status as a sustainability leader in the global airport community.
