Dubai International Airport (DXB) has achieved a historic milestone, welcoming 92.3 million passengers in 2024—the highest annual traffic recorded in its history.
This surpasses the previous record of 89.1 million in 2018 and solidifies DXB’s decade-long reign as the world’s busiest international airport, as ranked by Airports Council International (ACI).
December marked the peak of this exceptional year, with 8.2 million guests passing through DXB, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a premier global hub for travel, business, and investment.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, hailed the achievement as a testament to the UAE’s ambition and innovation.
“DXB’s record passenger traffic reflects our relentless pursuit of excellence and our vision to strengthen Dubai’s role as a bridge between markets and cultures,”
he said. He also praised the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the efforts of the DXB team in setting new benchmarks for global aviation.
Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, described surpassing the 92 million mark as a “monumental achievement,” crediting the teamwork and dedication of DXB’s community. He also expressed confidence in DXB reaching 100 million annual passengers by 2027, supported by a $35 billion expansion of Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC).
DXB’s connectivity spans 272 destinations across 107 countries, served by 106 airlines. Cargo operations also saw a surge, handling 2.2 million tonnes—an increase of 20.5% from the previous year. Additionally, DXB managed 440,300 flight movements in 2024, with an improved load factor of 78.1%.
As DXB looks toward 2025, its continued focus on infrastructure investments and passenger experience ensures its place as the world’s most connected and preferred global hub.
