Dubai International Baja 2024 Flags Off with Record Participation

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the eighth edition of the Dubai International Baja was officially launched today by H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.

The event, organized by the Emirates Motorsport Organisation (EMSO) in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council, is the oldest motorsport event in the UAE.

Held from November 28 to December 1, the Dubai International Baja takes place in the stunning landscapes of Hatta and the challenging dunes of the Al Qudra desert in Dubai. This year, the event coincides with the 53rd Eid Al Etihad celebrations. It has attracted a record 65 cars and 32 bikes from 37 countries, making it a truly international spectacle, broadcast across 190 territories globally.

The Dubai International Baja also marks the season finale for both the 2024 FIA World Baja Cup and the 2024 FIM Bajas World Cup, adding even more excitement as competitors vie for the championship titles. The event's rich history dates back to 1979 when it was first held as the Dubai International Rally. In 1997, EMSO introduced the Baja format, better suited for desert terrain, allowing buggies, bikes, quads, and cars to participate.

Notable attendees included Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, FIA President Mohammed Ahmed ben Sulayem, and Omar Abdullah Al Futtaim, Vice Chairman and CEO of Al Futtaim Group. The event is supported by Official Automotive Partner Al-Futtaim Toyota, Energy Partner ENOC, and various Dubai Government entities including the Dubai Police, RTA, and Dubai Municipality.
