The seventh edition of the Dubai International Content Market (DICM) 2024 wrapped up on Wednesday, bringing together over 800 professionals from 50 countries to discuss the latest trends in the media and entertainment industry.

With 87 exhibitors from major global media institutions and distribution companies, the event underscored the growing significance of the sector.

Over 2,500 B2B meetings took place, highlighting the expanding opportunities for collaboration within the media landscape. A key highlight was the DICM Talks 2024, which provided a platform for industry leaders to share insights on the future of content creation, distribution, and consumption. Topics ranged from the global influence of Turkish content to the evolving dynamics of streaming platforms and the shifting preferences of MENA region audiences.

Ahmed El-Cheikh, Director of Development at France 24, emphasized the sector's rapid growth, stating,

"This sector is one of the fastest-growing and continuously evolving industries, and this event is crucial for decision-makers across the Middle East and North Africa."

The event also focused on cross-border production collaborations, with experts discussing strategies for international co-productions that foster creative and commercial growth.

Amit Devani, Director of Insights at Parrot Analytics, revealed that demand for animated content had tripled since 2021, while action and adventure genres saw a decline in popularity.

The presence of Turkish actors added to the event’s star power, drawing attention to regional content. DICM 2024 proved to be a vital space for networking, deal-making, and exploring new opportunities in the ever-evolving media and entertainment sector.
