Dubai International (DXB) is on track to break its annual traffic record, with 68.6 million passengers welcomed in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 6.3% increase from the previous year.
The airport continued its strong growth in Q3, handling 23.7 million guests and over 111,300 flights, pushing total flight movements to 327,700, up 6.4% year-on-year.
CEO Paul Griffiths praised the airport's resilience and commitment to service excellence, highlighting the role of DXB's dedicated staff in achieving these milestones. He also noted a shift in traffic patterns, with more direct flights than ever before, reflecting Dubai’s growing appeal as a tourist and business hub.
India remained the top destination market, with 8.9 million passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia and the UK. London was the most popular city destination, with Riyadh showing significant growth, up 25.8%.
DXB processed 60.1 million bags with an industry-leading accuracy rate of 99.3%, ensuring a seamless travel experience. Looking ahead, DXB expects a busy final quarter, with 23.2 million passengers forecasted, driven by holiday travel and Dubai’s vibrant winter events.
Dubai’s strategic positioning as a global hub is further supported by a growing number of new routes and increased seat capacity, including new airlines like ITA, Condor, and Hainan. DXB's exceptional connectivity continues to bolster its status as the world’s busiest international airport for the tenth consecutive year.
