Dubai International is gearing up for one of its busiest travel periods yet as more than 10 million passengers are expected to move through the airport between 27 November and 31 December.

The surge begins with the UAE National Day long weekend and builds toward what is forecast to be the airport’s highest traffic month on record.

Daily passenger numbers are set to average over 294,000 during the National Day break, with activity accelerating through December. The airport expects more than 8.7 million guests next month alone, with daily traffic surpassing 300,000. Saturday, 20 December is projected to be the peak day, with an estimated 303,000 travelers.

The flow of traffic will shift throughout the period. Outbound travel is expected to dominate in the days leading up to the National Day holiday as residents take advantage of the long weekend. By mid-December, inbound tourism is set to climb sharply, supported by Dubai’s packed festive season.

Dubai Airports is coordinating closely with its oneDXB partners, including airlines, authorities, and commercial and service teams, to manage the travel peak and maintain smooth passenger movement. The airport has also issued guidance to help travelers plan ahead and reduce congestion.

Passengers flying with Emirates are encouraged to use home, early, and self check-in options, along with the downtown check-in facility at ICD Brookfield Place. Travelers are advised to arrive no earlier than three hours before departure, complete online check-in, and use Smart Gates where eligible. Families, premium passengers, and People of Determination have dedicated services designed to make their journey easier.

DXB also recommends using the Dubai Metro to reach Terminals 1 and 3, staying updated through DXB Express Maps, and making use of the airport’s dining, shopping, and lounge facilities once inside.
