Dubai Internet City has significantly bolstered Dubai’s economy, adding AED 100 billion to the emirate’s GDP over the past 15 years, according to an impact study conducted in collaboration with Accenture.

The study, which highlights the digital economy’s growth, underscores Dubai Internet City’s pivotal role as the region’s premier tech hub and a key driver of Dubai’s Economic Agenda ‘D33’.

Since its establishment in 1999 as part of TECOM Group PJSC’s sector-specific business districts, Dubai Internet City has played a crucial role in fostering technological innovation and entrepreneurship. Today, it generates 65% of Dubai’s technology sector GDP and has facilitated the creation of over 125,000 direct and indirect jobs. The district has also seen AED 1.6 billion in investments dedicated to training and talent development.

Ammar Al Malik, Executive Vice President of Commercial at TECOM Group and Managing Director of Dubai Internet City, emphasized the district’s commitment to advancing the digital economy.

“Dubai Internet City has been a catalyst for tech innovation and sustainable prosperity, aligning with Dubai’s vision to be a global technology leader,”

he stated.

The impact study also highlights the district’s role as a hub for over 4,000 companies, including Fortune 500 firms, start-ups, and multinational giants such as Oracle, SAP, Amazon, Google, Huawei, and Mastercard. The ecosystem has supported start-ups in securing AED 8 billion in funding, with unicorns like Careem and Souq emerging from its community.

Additionally, Dubai Internet City has fostered gender diversity, with women making up over 25% of its workforce and the number of women-led start-ups doubling at in5 Tech since 2021. The district continues to facilitate knowledge exchange, hosting over 800 events since 2021.

As Dubai Internet City marks its 25th anniversary, it remains a beacon of innovation, providing an unparalleled ecosystem that supports AI pioneers, entrepreneurs, and global businesses while driving the emirate’s digital transformation.
