Dubai Municipality has launched a pioneering emergency evacuation system at Al Mamzar Beach, the first of its kind in the Middle East, aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility for people of determination.
This initiative underscores Dubai's commitment to providing world-class safety standards and ensuring that all residents, particularly people of determination, can enjoy a secure environment.
The system features devices installed at lifeguard towers, with clear warning lights and evacuation messages for all beachgoers. Specialized range speakers guide visually impaired individuals to evacuation points, while vibrations alert those with hearing impairments of emergency situations. These measures ensure comprehensive support during emergencies, prioritizing inclusivity.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the initiative’s significance, saying,
“Dubai’s leadership has always prioritized creating an integrated community, ensuring the highest quality of life for people of determination.”
This system is part of a broader effort by Dubai Municipality to make the city more inclusive. This includes rehabilitating buildings and facilities to accommodate people of determination, empowering them to integrate fully into society. The Municipality also recently developed an advanced guidance device for training centers, which uses sensors to notify individuals of their location and tracks their movements in emergencies.
Anwahi emphasized,
“This achievement aligns with our goal of making Dubai the most beautiful, sustainable, and liveable city.”
