Dubai is introducing a unified system to regulate smart donation boxes in mosques, aiming to strengthen transparency, governance, and trust in charitable giving across the emirate.

The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has signed cooperation agreements with Al-Tarahum Charity Foundation, Beit Al Khair Society, and Dar Al Ber Society to oversee the distribution and operation of smart donation boxes in approved mosques throughout Dubai.

The initiative forms part of a broader effort to build a structured digital donation environment supported by a comprehensive regulatory and supervisory framework. The system will include financial, administrative, and technical monitoring mechanisms to ensure donations are tracked accurately and directed to licensed charitable projects and beneficiaries.

Officials say the agreements also standardize operational procedures for smart donation boxes in mosques. This approach is expected to strengthen public confidence in official donation channels while reinforcing Dubai’s reputation for well governed and innovative humanitarian work.

Mohammed Musabbah Dahi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector at the department, described the agreements as an important step in developing modern tools for collecting donations. He said the unified framework reflects the department’s commitment to transparency, compliance, and stronger cooperation among organizations involved in charitable work.

Dahi added that the initiative supports Dubai’s wider digital transformation goals while ensuring charitable resources are managed efficiently and responsibly to maximize their humanitarian impact.

Omar Ali Al Khazimi, Acting Director of the Zakat and Charity Affairs Department, said the partnership represents a strong example of collaboration between government entities and charitable organizations. He noted that unified regulations will improve institutional performance, increase donor confidence, and ensure smooth operations under clearly defined systems.

The initiative marks a shift from traditional donation methods toward a digitally managed model designed to strengthen accountability and support sustainable charitable work in Dubai.
