Dubai Judicial Institute (DJI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to bolster strategic cooperation and develop competencies in international humanitarian law.
The agreement aligns with the UAE’s commitments under global legal frameworks, aiming to enhance knowledge on the provisions and challenges of international humanitarian law.
The MoU signing ceremony took place virtually, attended by Judge Dr. Ebtessam Ali Al Badwawi, Director-General of DJI, and Valentina Bernasconi, Head of the ICRC Mission in the UAE, alongside officials from both organizations.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr. Al Badwawi expressed pride in establishing the partnership. She stated,
“This Memorandum strengthens our strategic cooperation and supports efforts to promote legal awareness and deepen understanding of international humanitarian law. We are committed to fully implementing the agreement to achieve our shared vision.”
Valentina Bernasconi highlighted the significance of the initiative, saying,
"This marks an important step in our ongoing cooperation. It reflects the UAE’s dedication to upholding international humanitarian law and preventing dehumanisation."
She added that the ICRC is pleased to collaborate with DJI in enhancing national expertise in humanitarian law, especially during challenging times.
The MoU aims to foster a shared understanding and respect for humanitarian law, furthering the UAE's vision of promoting justice and humanity on the global stage.
