Dubai Municipality has joined forces with Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs and Careem to launch "Al Freej Gardener", a digital platform set to regulate home gardening and landscaping services across the emirate's residential communities.
The initiative connects residents with licensed agricultural maintenance companies through a single on-demand platform, offering services ranging from routine garden upkeep and irrigation installation to agricultural consultancy. It will go live on the Careem app in September, with Justlife supporting delivery of the service.
A memorandum of cooperation formalising the partnership was signed in the presence of Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, and Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality.
Each partner will play a distinct role. Dubai Municipality leads overall coordination, Dubai Police will run community awareness campaigns on safety procedures, and the identity authority will guide gardeners on visa and permit compliance. Careem will manage the platform's technical operation and vet participating companies throughout registration.
Officials described the scheme as part of a broader push to professionalise essential community services while improving Dubai's residential appeal. Major General Hareb Mohammed Al Shamsi of Dubai Police said the initiative supports the city's ambitions for a safer, more sustainable and attractive urban environment.
Nasser BuShehab of Dubai Municipality said the platform would help preserve the city's green spaces while giving residents easier access to qualified professionals.
Careem chief executive Mudassir Sheikha said the venture reflects the company's aim to simplify everyday life, adding that it would raise service standards and improve accessibility for households across Dubai.
The programme also includes training and awareness efforts to encourage sustainable gardening practices within local neighbourhoods.
