Dubai has launched the Itma’en service, a free mental wellbeing initiative aimed at providing confidential support to citizens, residents, and visitors.
The service, whose name translates to “rest assured,” reinforces the city’s focus on integrating health and wellbeing into its social and healthcare framework.
The initiative is a joint effort by Dubai Health, the Community Development Authority (CDA), and the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). It offers guidance through a dedicated hotline (800506), connecting callers with trained specialists who provide professional advice, emotional support, and referrals when medical follow-up is needed. Services are available in both Arabic and English daily from 9:00 am to midnight.
Her Excellency Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of CDA, highlighted that the hotline reflects Dubai’s commitment to strengthening social care and supporting families and individuals in managing emotional challenges.
“Promoting mental wellness is a fundamental priority within Dubai’s social development framework,”
she said, emphasizing the initiative’s role in fostering social cohesion and encouraging a culture of seeking help.
His Excellency Dr. Alawi Alsheikh-Ali, Director General of DHA, underlined that the initiative exemplifies Dubai’s proactive healthcare model, ensuring mental health guidance is a key pillar of public health. By enabling timely access to care, the service contributes to a healthier and more resilient community.
Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health, added that Itma’en reflects the city’s renewed focus on treating mental wellbeing with the same importance as physical health. He praised the collaboration among government entities and reaffirmed Dubai Health’s commitment to accessible, human-centred healthcare programmes aligned with the “Patient First” vision.
The Itma’en service forms part of Dubai’s broader efforts to create an integrated mental health system, support the Dubai Social Agenda 33, and enhance quality of life across the community.
