The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) and Google have officially launched the second phase of Dubai’s Culture and Heritage project on the Google Arts & Culture platform.
The event, held at the Etihad Museum, aims to preserve and promote Dubai's rich cultural heritage as the city prepares for the upcoming 2024 World Cities Culture Summit and the 27th International Council of Museums General Conference in 2025.
Key attendees included Her Excellency Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture, and Anthony Nacache, Managing Director at Google MENA. This partnership is a significant step towards establishing Dubai as a global cultural hub and aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The initiative features over 130 expert-curated stories, 1,200 images, and 40 videos documenting Dubai's heritage, traditions, local handicrafts, and unique lifestyle. The project also showcases artwork by Khalid Mezaina, reflecting the emirate's hidden treasures and cultural elements.
In addition, the event announced the second edition of the MENA Creatives Bootcamp, scheduled for February 2025, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on the creative community.
Hala Badri emphasized the project's role in enriching Arab cultural content online, while Nacache highlighted the importance of showcasing Dubai’s cultural gems to a global audience. This initiative not only celebrates local talent but also enhances Dubai's cultural landscape, contributing significantly to the emirate’s quality of life and creative economy.
