Dubai has unveiled the Urban Think Tank and Design Lab (D.M-ULab), a pioneering platform designed to transform city planning through innovation, collaboration, and advanced technologies.
The initiative was launched at the Museum of the Future in the presence of government leaders, developers, and academics.
The lab brings together experts, researchers, and community members to co-create solutions that put people at the center of urban development. Officials said the initiative reflects Dubai’s vision to strengthen its position as a global leader in building sustainable, future-ready cities.
The first project under the lab will focus on revitalising older residential neighborhoods, preserving their identity while creating integrated, human-centred communities. Private-sector developers will collaborate with Dubai Municipality to ensure high standards of design and renewal.
To support its mission, Dubai Municipality signed ten strategic partnerships with major developers, global consultancies, and universities, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for innovation and knowledge exchange.
The Urban Think Tank and Design Lab will act as a hub for participatory design, testing new ideas, and developing practical solutions. By combining technology, creativity, and collaboration, it aims to enhance quality of life while positioning Dubai as a global incubator for future urban design.
