In a significant development, starting July 1, visitors to Dubai Mall will require a Salik tag to access and utilize parking facilities, as announced by the UAE’s road toll operator, Salik.
The decision comes alongside the introduction of paid parking at certain sections of the mall, marking a shift in its parking policy.
Visible Salik branding has been prominently displayed at all parking entrances, indicating the imminent change. However, no physical barriers or cameras were observed during a recent inspection of the parking areas.
Paid parking will apply specifically to the Grand, Cinema, and Fashion Parking zones, while the Zabeel and Fountain View parkings will remain free for the foreseeable future. Signages detailing parking rates have been installed near elevators within the mall premises, specifying a grace period of four hours on weekdays and six hours on weekends. Beyond this period, charges ranging from Dh20 to Dh1000 per hour will be incurred, depending on the duration of stay.
Upon exiting, fees will automatically be deducted from the car’s associated Salik account. Notably, vehicles must be equipped with a Salik tag to gain entry and utilize the Dubai Mall parking facilities, raising questions about enforcement for vehicles without the required tag.
Security measures have already been implemented, with mall security personnel stationed at parking entrances to guide and redirect vehicles as needed.
This move represents a concerted effort by Dubai Mall and Salik to manage parking congestion and enhance visitor experience, aligning with broader urban mobility strategies across the city.
