Dubai Maritime Authority has announced a mandatory marine traffic management plan for New Year’s Eve 2026, reinforcing safety and order across the emirate’s waterways during one of the busiest nights of the year.
The plan will be enforced from 10.00 pm on 31 December 2025 until 2.00 am on 1 January 2026, covering peak hours of marine activity as thousands head to sea to watch the fireworks displays.
Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Dubai Maritime Authority at the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, said the initiative reflects the Authority’s commitment to proactive planning during high-traffic periods. The objective is to protect sea-goers while ensuring a smooth and organized experience across Dubai’s marine zones.
Vessel owners, operators, marinas, and yacht clubs have been urged to begin briefing crews and passengers early. All vessels must follow designated routes, maintain safe distances, and adhere to specific movement schedules. A detailed guidance document has been issued alongside an official navigational warning, outlining maps, timings, and operational instructions.
The plan introduces a one-way traffic system, scheduled departure and return windows based on vessel size, and tailored arrangements for each marina. Key areas include Dubai Marina, Dubai Harbour Marina, Palm Jumeirah marinas, and Dubai Water Canal entrances.
Monitoring teams will be deployed in coordination with strategic partners, supported by AIS tracking systems, cameras, and maritime patrols. Violations will result in penalties, including possible suspension of vessel or crew licenses.
The Authority confirmed that no marine accidents were recorded during previous New Year celebrations and aims to maintain a zero-incident record, reinforcing Dubai’s reputation for safe and well-managed large-scale events.
