The Dubai Media Council (DMC) has launched its Media Knowledge Exchange Programme with a strategic visit to Japan, aimed at fostering international collaboration and sharing media best practices.
The five-day visit, led by Nehal Badri, Secretary General of DMC, focused on Japan’s advanced media landscape, technological innovations, and thriving gaming and animation industries.
During the trip, the DMC delegation met with 22 top Japanese organizations and institutions, including renowned media companies, universities, and influential industry players. Notable engagements included visits to Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS), Uni Japan—the organizers of the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF)—and major gaming companies like Sega and Square Enix. The delegation also explored Japan’s innovative media technologies, gaming sector, and government initiatives aimed at supporting creative industries.
Mona Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the DMC, emphasized the programme’s role in promoting partnerships and knowledge-sharing to support growth and innovation in Dubai’s media sector. Al Marri noted that the visit aligns with the vision of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to elevate Dubai’s position in the global media industry.
In addition to media content and technology, discussions also focused on Dubai’s emerging gaming sector, in line with the Dubai Program for Gaming 2033 launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The visit reinforced Dubai’s goal to become a global media hub and foster sustainable growth in the sector.
The programme is set to pave the way for future collaborations, with potential opportunities for talent exchange and media production partnerships between Dubai and Japan.
