Dubai Metro will celebrate its 15th anniversary on September 9, a milestone that highlights its role in transforming Dubai’s urban transit.

Since its launch in 2009, the metro has grown in ridership and infrastructure, serving as a vital link for residents and visitors while supporting Dubai’s economic development.

The metro has carried approximately 2.4 billion passengers, with daily ridership reaching 730,000. Boasting a punctuality rate of 99.7%, it has become the preferred transportation choice for many.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director General of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), emphasized the metro's importance, crediting visionary leadership from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in positioning Dubai as a global hub for business and finance.

Over the years, the network expanded from 52 to 90 kilometers and from 10 to 53 stations. The Dubai Metro remains the world’s longest driverless metro and has played a significant role in environmental preservation, reducing traffic congestion, and promoting public transport use. Al Tayer expressed gratitude to the strategic partners, including Dubai Police and Keolis MHI, for their role in the metro's operational success.

With continued investment in public transport, the Dubai Metro remains a symbol of innovation, contributing to the city’s future growth.
