Dubai Municipality, in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA), has introduced the ‘Safe Water for a Healthy Community’ initiative to enhance water system safety in senior citizens' homes and villas across Dubai.

The initiative aligns with the UAE’s 2025 Year of the Community, underscoring the nation’s dedication to fostering a cohesive and sustainable society.

With a focus on proactive public health protection, the initiative aims to ensure domestic water systems meet the highest international quality standards. It involves technical assessments, laboratory testing, and community engagement to mitigate health risks from water contamination while strengthening community partnerships and service excellence.

The first phase will cover 42 homes and villas in 10 areas across Dubai. Specialist engineering teams will conduct field inspections, collect water samples, and analyze them at Dubai Central Laboratory. Identified risks will be addressed through corrective measures in collaboration with water treatment specialists.

Dr Naseem Mohammed Rafee, Acting CEO of the Environment, Health and Safety Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted the initiative’s role in enhancing community well-being. He emphasized the importance of regular household water testing to maintain high water quality and reduce contamination risks.

Muhannad Saeed, Director of the Senior Citizens Department at CDA, reiterated the initiative’s significance in improving senior citizens' quality of life, noting that safe water is essential for their health and daily comfort.

To further promote awareness, educational workshops will be held at Dubai councils, encouraging residents to adopt sustainable water safety practices. Regular disinfection and maintenance of water tanks and plumbing systems are recommended to prevent contamination and ensure long-term water safety.

Through preventive measures and community education, Dubai Municipality and CDA aim to create a healthier, safer, and more sustainable living environment for all residents.
