Dubai Municipality has announced the development of 35 new parks across the emirate this year, marking a major expansion of public green spaces with a total investment of AED348 million.

The projects aim to enhance community wellbeing, social cohesion, and Dubai’s reputation as a global leader in quality of life.

Spanning over 340,000 square metres and serving 23 residential communities, the parks will be accessible within a five-minute walk from surrounding neighbourhoods. Each site will feature open, unfenced designs that reflect the local community identity and integrate climate-responsive, resilient infrastructure.

The initiative forms part of the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, a strategic plan to expand Dubai’s public and waterfront spaces. Over the next five years, the roadmap targets more than 120 parks and 200 sports and recreational facilities, with a total investment exceeding AED4 billion.

Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted that the projects are part of a human-centric urban ecosystem designed to meet community needs.

“By ensuring parks are within walking distance and thoughtfully designed, we are setting a new benchmark for public spaces that enhance wellbeing and support sustainable urban growth,”

he said.

Environmental sustainability is central to the designs, with initiatives including tree planting, recycled irrigation, renewable energy solutions, and AI-driven resource management. The parks will offer over 60 children’s play areas, 18 football fields, 20 multi-use sports courts, running and cycling tracks, water features, picnic areas, and social and F&B zones.

Dubai Municipality is also encouraging private sector involvement through Public-Private Partnerships to accelerate delivery and increase the value of public spaces. By 2040, the emirate aims to deliver 310 new parks and upgrade over 220 existing ones, creating an interconnected network of inclusive, community-driven public spaces.

This expansion underscores Dubai’s ongoing commitment to accessible, high-quality green spaces that enrich urban life and foster stronger, more active communities.
