Dubai Municipality has introduced the “Smart Municipality Eye,” an advanced aerial monitoring system using AI-powered drones to enhance environmental and urban sustainability across the city.
The system will monitor over 52 million square metres of green spaces in real time, assessing vegetation health, detecting irrigation or pest issues, and predicting potential problems before they occur. By combining drone technology with artificial intelligence, the initiative supports predictive maintenance and strengthens the resilience of Dubai’s green infrastructure.
To advance the project, Dubai Municipality signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Eanan Al Samma for Remote-Controlled Aircraft Manufacturing. The partnership aims to develop and deploy innovative drone technologies and AI solutions for municipal and inspection operations, reinforcing Dubai’s long-term sustainability goals.
The agreement was formalized by Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, and Rashid Hamdan bin Khadim Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Eanan Al Samma, during Urban Future Week at the Museum of the Future. The event gathered local and international experts to explore emerging trends in urban planning and smart city readiness.
Bin Ghalita said the collaboration marks a step forward in positioning Dubai Municipality as a leader in using AI and drone technologies to manage operations and preserve the city’s environmental identity.
Al Nuaimi added that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to innovation and efficiency aligned with Dubai’s future vision.
The initiative will see both entities exchange expertise and pilot new operational models that enhance municipal services, promote sustainability, and support Dubai’s goal of remaining one of the world’s most liveable cities.
