Dubai Municipality has unveiled Circle Dubai, a major sustainability initiative aimed at transforming waste management and driving community-wide environmental responsibility.

Announced during the 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum, the programme reinforces Dubai’s commitment to becoming a global model for circular economy and sustainable living.

Built around the slogan “Reduce...Reuse...Recycle...Together we make a difference,” Circle Dubai aligns with the Dubai Integrated Waste Management Strategy 2041, which targets 100% waste diversion from landfills and at least 56% recycling. The initiative seeks to modernise collection and transport systems, improve recycling efficiency, and reduce waste at its source while embedding a culture of zero waste across all sectors.

Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said the project reflects Dubai’s vision of sustainability as a way of life, not just a policy objective. He highlighted its role in enhancing quality of life, promoting public health, and positioning Dubai among the world’s cleanest and most sustainable cities.

The initiative targets nine key sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, tourism, and education, encouraging responsible consumption and climate action. A dedicated digital education platform will provide sustainability training through interactive content, while the Dubai Sustainability Ambassadors programme will mobilise residents to lead local zero-waste efforts.

Supported by 17 strategic projects and 26 performance indicators, Circle Dubai integrates partnerships with private, educational, and tourism sectors to ensure measurable long-term outcomes. By combining innovation, smart technology, and public engagement, the initiative underscores Dubai’s growing leadership in sustainable urban management and its pursuit of a waste-free future.
