Dubai Municipality has achieved a remarkable milestone in 2024 by planting 216,500 trees, marking a 17% increase compared to 2023. This equates to an average of 600 trees planted daily, reinforcing the emirate's commitment to sustainability.

The Municipality's greening efforts expanded Dubai’s green spaces by 391.5 hectares, representing a 57% growth from the previous year. These initiatives align with the Urban Environment pillar under the 'Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033.' Additionally, 5.3 million seedlings of flowers and ornamental plants were planted, while 45 million seasonal flowers were replaced across three annual cycles.

Under the Dubai Green Project, 165 beautification projects enhanced residential and urban areas, roads, intersections, parks, and public squares. Indigenous trees such as Ghaf, Sidr, and Samar, along with ornamental varieties like neem, olive, and palm species, were introduced to enrich biodiversity and bolster climate resilience.

“Dubai Municipality's projects reflect our commitment to sustainability and aesthetic appeal,”

said Badr Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency. He highlighted the role of innovative urban planning in expanding green spaces, improving air quality, and preserving biodiversity.

Advanced agricultural technologies have been employed to optimize water use, relying entirely on recycled water for irrigation. Warsan Nursery played a pivotal role, producing 48.13 million seedlings in 2024, nearly 98% of which were allocated to greening projects.

Since 2011, green spaces under Dubai Municipality's supervision have doubled, surpassing 52 million square metres by 2024. These efforts underscore Dubai’s vision of a sustainable urban future, blending modernity with greenery to enhance quality of life for residents and visitors.
