Dubai’s Ramadan Souq 2026 has drawn a record-breaking 1.82 million visitors, marking its most successful edition to date and reinforcing its status as one of the emirate’s leading cultural and community events.
Organised by Dubai Municipality, the annual market recorded a 12.4 percent increase in attendance compared with 2025, reflecting growing public engagement with heritage-driven experiences during the holy month.
Held along Old Baladiya Street within Deira Grand Souk, the event combined traditional ambience with an expanded programme of cultural, entertainment and community activities. The souq coincided with the “Al Welfa” season, an initiative focused on strengthening family bonds and celebrating Emirati social traditions, while also boosting tourism and commercial activity in Dubai’s historic districts.
The strong visitor turnout translated into tangible economic gains for participants. Traditional shop owners, traders, entrepreneurs and People of Determination reported a 35 percent rise in sales, supported by high visitor engagement and a diverse lineup of heritage performances, competitions and handicraft workshops. Local products and family-oriented experiences played a central role in attracting both residents and tourists.
According to Asem Al Qassim, Director of the Architectural Heritage and Antiquities Department at Dubai Municipality, the results highlight ongoing efforts to transform heritage markets into vibrant destinations that balance authenticity with modern experiences. The initiative also aligns with broader goals to preserve Dubai’s architectural identity and strengthen its global cultural profile.
This year’s edition introduced new interactive activations including henna art, Arabic calligraphy sessions, gypsum crafting workshops, planting activities and a dedicated children’s play area. The expanded offerings enhanced the souq’s family-friendly appeal and broadened participation across age groups.
Dubai Municipality said the Ramadan Souq will continue to evolve through future initiatives aimed at increasing its social, economic and cultural impact while supporting traditional crafts and sustaining Dubai’s historic marketplaces as dynamic community hubs.
