Dubai’s construction sector has posted robust growth in the first quarter of 2026, with Dubai Municipality reporting a surge in building activity, permit issuance, and project completions, underscoring sustained investor confidence and the emirate’s continued urban expansion.
Dubai Municipality issued 10,776 building permits during the quarter, marking a 12 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The rise reflects growing demand for development projects and has been supported by enhanced digital services that streamline licensing and improve efficiency.
Construction oversight also remained strong, with 10,855 on-site structural inspections conducted. These inspections ensured adherence to technical standards and reinforced safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across projects.

Activity on the ground remained high, as concrete supply to construction sites reached 824,381 cubic metres. The figure highlights the scale of ongoing developments and the efficiency of supply chains supporting project delivery across the emirate.
Urban expansion continued at pace, with the total permitted built-up area nearing 3.9 million square metres, a 48 percent increase from 2025. The growth reflects a diverse pipeline of residential, commercial, and service-related projects aligned with Dubai’s long-term planning goals.
In addition, 3,154 building completion certificates were issued, pointing to improved project turnaround times and efficient lifecycle management.
Officials said the results align with the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, reinforcing Dubai’s position as a leading destination for sustainable urban development.
