Dubai Municipality has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Society of Engineers to enhance professional standards across Dubai’s engineering sector and align them with international best practices.

The agreement focuses on developing robust systems for evaluating, classifying, licensing, and qualifying engineering professionals, reinforcing the readiness and efficiency of engineering talent in the Emirate. It also supports Dubai’s broader ambition to position itself as a global hub for leading engineering and architectural events.

Under the memorandum, both entities will collaborate on assessing engineers as part of the professional qualification system required for practice licences in Dubai. These assessments will be conducted at the Society of Engineers’ facilities, which are fully equipped to deliver internationally recognised professional examinations in line with approved standards.

The partnership also includes the joint development of an engineering classification framework linked to technical and professional exam outcomes. In addition, both parties will cooperate in organising and supporting international engineering and architectural conferences and industry events.

Further initiatives outlined in the agreement include launching joint training programmes across multiple engineering disciplines, organising technical workshops and discussion forums, and establishing shared digital platforms for exchanging research, studies, and best practices. These efforts aim to support innovation, continuous professional development, and sector-wide knowledge sharing.

The memorandum also places emphasis on youth-led innovation through the sponsorship of emerging engineering projects and initiatives. Field visits for engineers, students, and staff from both organisations will further encourage collaboration and practical knowledge exchange.

The agreement builds on Dubai Municipality’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the engineering ecosystem and reinforce Dubai’s position as a global destination for engineering excellence and sustainable urban development.
