Dubai Municipality has launched the second phase of its ambitious digital transformation initiative at GITEX Global 2024, which commenced on October 14 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

This latest phase enhances 38 key services, focusing on improving processes in import/export regulation, laboratory testing, animal welfare, and food industry services.

Aligned with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, the initiative aims to solidify Dubai’s status as a premier city for living, working, and visiting. Four groundbreaking projects are showcased at GITEX, highlighting the initiative’s impact:

  1. Montaji+: Streamlining the trading journey for food and consumer products, this system promises quicker product registration through a centralized catalogue and AI-enabled integration with local and global partners.
  2. Unified Permit System: This innovative system reduces approval times by 60%, simplifying procedures for various stakeholders by leveraging digital data.
  3. Dubai Central Laboratories Testing: Modernizing testing application processes for food, environmental, consumer, and gemstone samples ensures faster, more accurate results.
  4. Virtual Appointment System (Pilot Phase): This system enhances communication and customer satisfaction through improved service delivery.

Additionally, the NAQIL system automates the management of sewage vehicles at Jebel Ali and Al Warsan Sewage Treatment Plants, ensuring operational efficiency while monitoring wastewater quality in real-time.

With a focus on sustainability, this digital transformation is expected to save over 62,000 working hours monthly, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance the quality of life across the Emirate.

Asmahan Alzarooni, Director of Digital Transformation at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating,

"By leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we are reducing costs, saving time, and improving our services across various sectors."
